Essential Information
The following information will help you find out about all aspects of your holiday. Should you require any further information regarding any of the matters below, please do not hesitate to contact our travel advisers.
Accommodation
The vast majority of our properties are privately owned and are furnished to the owner's taste, so the standards and styles of property will inevitably differ. We endeavour to give an accurate description of each property with interior and exterior photographs. Please note that in some properties it is not always possible for the furnishings within the lounge/dining area to accommodate all occupants at any one time. The properties featured operate to their own country's safety standards and regulations, which may not be of the same level that we enjoy in the UK and may often be lower.
Accommodation Service
Cleaning, water, electricity and gas consumption are included within the property's rental cost, unless otherwise stated within the accommodation description. Unfortunately it is the case that many resorts covered on our website can suffer from water or electricity shortages, and supplies can be cut off without notice for varying periods of time. In addition, you may find that the electricity may trip if too many appliances are used at the same time. We ask for your patience and co-operation in such instances, as you will appreciate these situations are out of our control.
Air Conditioning
When accommodation is equipped with air conditioning, this will be detailed accordingly.
Assistance in Resort
You have chosen a private villa holiday and we intend to respect your privacy. Rest assured, you will not be herded into coaches or asked to attend welcome meetings whilst you are on holiday. However, should you require assistance in any way, someone will be close at hand. In many areas we have a Resort Manager and representative. Should you need anything, your representative will be available 7 days a week.
Adjoining Building Work
Building work and noise are unavoidable as the demand for new accommodation increases. It is the case that some resort areas featured in this brochure are still being developed and therefore there is a possibility of building work or construction work, which may be carried out by local authorities or private developers. Many of our properties are also situated in residential areas and work may begin on a neighbouring property over which we have no control, nor are we given prior notice. However in any event we will always do our best to inform you of the facts in advance, but if this is not possible, please accept our apologies.
Car Hire
Generally cars are collected at the airport on arrival and returned at the end of your holiday. The car hire prices quoted include unlimited mileage, radio, air conditioning and fully comprehensive insurance for two named drivers. Collision damage is also available. All car rentals are based on a 24-hour period from the time that you collect your car. Please check carefully that your rental period coincides with your requirements and flight times. For your own safety and convenience we recommend you book a larger car rather than a smaller car for your holiday to allow for luggage space. All drivers should be a minimum of 23 years old or should have a valid driver's license for at least 3 years. No refunds will be given for rentals rejected due to non-production of a valid driving license. All designated drivers must take their licences with them. If you hold a photocard licence you will require the accompanying paper documentation. Photocopies will not be accepted. Child/booster seats can be fitted to the majority of hire cars that we offer and must be requested at the time of booking (please indicate the age of your child at this time). All car categories are subject to availability. In the event of a specific car type not being provided by the car hire company, an alternative vehicle may be offered. Children's Safety
As we know, children are naturally curious, especially when on holiday where there are lots of areas and things to be explored. Please ensure that children are not left unsupervised at any time during your holiday and take extra care with balconies and swimming pools etc. Parents are responsible for the actions of their children at all times.
Disabled travellers
RentPrivateVillas is not a specialist provider of holidays for the disabled. Many properties are not equipped to cater for the needs of disabled guests and may cause problems for wheelchair users. It is therefore most important that our travel advisers are informed of your special needs when enquiring about a holiday. By informing us, you help us to ensure that each individual is provided with the most suitable property for your needs.
Early/Late season and Public Holidays
We would like to advise our customers that certain resorts may have limited facilities available between November and April and Public Holidays. Consequently we recommend car hire during these times.
Highchairs/cots
If you require a cot or highchair please request it at the time of booking, in order that we can ensure it is at the property on your arrival. A supplementary charge will be added to your invoice.
Housekeeping service
Housekeeping service will vary with each booking. If your property has a barbecue, please ensure you leave it in a clean condition, as no housekeeping service is included in the upkeep of this facility. Please note that beach/pool towels are not supplied and these should be taken with you unless otherwise stated. We kindly ask all guests not to use the bath towels supplied at the property for the beach or around the pool.
Infinity pools
Please take extra care with children if your pool is described as an 'infinity'. This style of pool will have an open drop from the pool edge.
Insects/animals
Mosquitoes, ants, cockroaches and other insects are endemic in warmer climates, particularly in the country areas. Ant powders are a good repellent but it also helps to keep crumbs to a minimum. Mosquitoes can be kept at bay by a good repellent, which can be purchased in either the UK or local chemists and supermarkets. Many of our properties are surrounded by gardens and countryside and field mice and other rodents are therefore common, along with local farm animals. Local dogs and cats sometimes roam around unattended and may cause a disturbance. All these types of aggravations, together with late night noise are unfortunately unavoidable. We therefore ask for your patience and understanding should they occur. Please note in accordance with the requirements of the property owners we are unable to allow pets in any of the accommodation featured within our brochure or website.
Kitchens
Kitchens include basic cooking utensils, iron, ironing board, cutlery and crockery. Some properties have additional facilities. These will be indicated in the property description where available. Please note cleaning products or materials are not generally provided.
Lost property
Please ensure all personal possessions are packed when departing your accommodation. Before departing your villa please ensure you check the villa thoroughly for your personal belongings i.e.: the safety deposit box, wardrobes, drawers, under beds, bathroom cabinets, clothes line etc. Regrettable RentPrivateVillas is unable to return to you items discovered after your departure. Each villa requires servicing before the next arrival and cleaning teams will remove and discard any items left in the property following your departure. If you are able to notify us quickly enough, we will do our best to track non-perishable items down for you and arrange for them to be stored at our office in Protaras from where you can arrange collection by courier.
Mobile phones
Generally most GSM network mobile phones do work in Cyprus, although at times reception can be erratic and some locations are unsuitable for mobile use (mountains). We, therefore, advise that you check with your airtime provider.
Personal health and safety
We take the safety of our customers very seriously, unfortunately crimes against people and property are a fact of life throughout the world and you have the same responsibility for your personal safety as you do at home. We therefore advise all customers to be extra vigilant and ensure that great care is taken of your property and personal safety. You must ensure all the windows, shutters and doors are locked at night and where available, set the security device, in addition to when you are away from the property. In the event that you should lose any items of value whilst on holiday through theft or otherwise, you must report the facts immediately to the local police or other competent authority and obtain a written report. If a report is not obtained it will be difficult for you to pursue any claim through your holiday insurance.
Pools, garden and general maintenance
All of our properties are maintained by the staff who have access. Gardens have to be maintained on a regular basis and it is simply not possible for this to be carried out on 'change-over' days. With regard to pool maintenance, pools are normally checked and cleaned twice a week and this is normally carried out very early in the morning to avoid disruption to our customers. However, neither pool nor garden personnel have fixed hours, so it is not possible for us to advise you of the exact date or time of their visit. We ask for your cooperation when our staff visit, as it is imperative to keep the properties well maintained for our clients' enjoyment throughout the year.
Safety Deposit Boxes
Please note that safes are not provided in all properties and should you require a property with this facility please ask our travel advisers at the time of booking.
Safety Standards and Regulations
The safety standards and regulations in operation in Cyprus may not reach the same level as those we enjoy in the UK. The monitoring, enforcement and compliance with these local regulations is a matter for the authorities of that country and the foreign supplier of the services concerned. The general standards of safety and hygiene, fire precautions etc, will generally be lower than in the UK. Liability insurance requirements vary considerably from country to country, as does the responsibility placed on an organisation by local law. Please therefore take all precautions to protect yourself and your family whilst on holiday.
Satellite TV/video/DVD/games consoles
Most satellite systems in Cyprus have over 100 channels, however these are mainly a mixture of Greek and European channels. Usually there are just a few English channels like CNN New, Euro News, BBC World and sometimes a film is shown in the evenings in English. It is only those villas with a Sky satellite system that will have proper English channels. If this is of importance to you, please check with us before making a booking. If a villa is equipped with a DVD, video or games consoles, you will need to provide your own DVDs/games.
Telephones
Unless otherwise stated, telephones are not provided in our properties. Therefore we recommend that, if possible, customers take mobile phones in case of an emergency.
Telephone Calls
Calls made to RentPrivateVillas may be recorded for training and quality control purposes.
Travel Insurance
It is strongly recommended that you take out arrange fully comprehensive travel insurance which includes accommodation cancellation.
Vaccinations
No inoculations or vaccinations are compulsory for UK residents. However, should you be taking any form of medication, take adequate supplies with you as well as items like contact lenses.
Website/brochure
We make every effort to ensure that the information and photography contained on our website is accurate. However, many individuals are responsible for the provision of your holiday arrangements and they may alter or temporarily withdraw some of the advertised facilities or services without prior notice to us. Unfortunately errors can occur and prices may alter, however we will always endeavour to advise you of any changes at the earliest opportunity. The distances to amenities and pool measurements we have provided are approximate.
