Fig Tree Bay

Fig Tree Bay Beach Protaras

It called Fig tree bay, after the fig tree(s) found there. On its north side there is a rocky cove beyond which the long Vrisi beach looms, while on the south a long 4 km long rocky stretch leads to Cape Greko (small coves some of them sandy, interrupt that stretch). Protaras bay beach together with Vrisi beach constitute the main beach area of Protaras. The island in the center of the bay contributes to the calmness of the water. The beach has good road access and many amenities. Inevitably it gets packed in summer. The beach has been awarded the Blue flag eco-label (www.blueflag.org) and has handicap facilities. There are excellent watersport and snorkeling opportunities in the vicinity. One can hike either to the north (after about 2.5 km on the coastal trail from the adjacent, almost 1 km long Vrisi beach, you will come to Louma beach), or to the south (it is about 1.5 km to Lombardi beach).
