Set on the tranquil sunny hills above Calheta, and close to amenities, the present owner, Elisabeth, sympathetically restored and refurbished her great grandmothers cottages to create this lovely character air-conditioned villa. Relaxing by the tranquil pool and large barbecue area you will appreciate its traditional traits and views. The very large living space with two seating areas, dining and fully equipped kitchen are all contemporary furnished and a delight to enjoy.
All bedrooms are large and benefit from en-suite bathrooms. The air-conditioned large living space runs the whole of the ground floor, and includes two separate seating areas, each with its own flat screen cable TV, a dining table for 6 and a fully equipped contemporary open-plan kitchen and features the beautiful original wood stove and oven. All doors open to the front terrace that affords wonderful views of the countryside and ocean, and includes a herb garden for guests use| All bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms, air-conditioning and the same wonderful views. Accessed via one set of steps, the self-contained double bedroom is spacious and accesses via the hall, and what used to be the front door the rear of the property. The second staircase leads to the bedroom hall (which also has a door to the rear of the property) and the second double bedroom and twin bedroom| There are many walks around Calheta and easy access to the plateau of Paul da Serra, with its many levada walks, makes this villa perfectly located for walking in Madeira and for enjoying a lovely holiday surrounded by the beautiful Madeira countryside. Pool style and dimensions: Rectangular Length 8m Width 4m Depth 0,80m to 1,70m You will find a laundry room next to the barbecue| Free cot available. Guests are free to use the herbs from the herb garden and vegetables and fruit from the kitchen garden. Bread van passes daily by the front door| Cleaning and linen change is provided every 7 days. There is a cleaning fee per reservation of 66€ All linen and towels are provided, including towels for the swimming pool. The thick original walls guarantee the living area is always cool and fresh.
The old wine press has been rebuilt by the entrance to the villa. There is free Wi-Fi connection throughout the Villa Bedrooms and the ground floor living area is air-conditioned. Secure parking is available for one car| Although not essential, as in most villas, a hire car is recommended. Shorter stays are possible, subject to request. A mini-market and café are only 70m away| You can place an order from the bread delivery van passes daily by the front door. The nearest centre (Estrela da Calheta) is 600m away, where you can find café/restaurants, petrol station, ATM cashpoint, bank, pharmacy and medical centre. The resort of Calheta, with its man-made yellow beach, is 3Km away.
In addition to a greater choice of cafés and restaurants, you will find a branded supermarket and the marina from where diving and sailing trips are available. Points of interest include the Casa das Mudas Museum and the old sugar cane mill. Levada walking is only 6,4Km away and a paragliding teake-off point is 5,2Km away| The capital, Funchal, is an easy 35 minute drive away, and to reach the airport takes around 45 minutes.
